Maya Angelou: And I Still Rise, an American Masters profile of poet, writer, activist Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou encouraged people to think about their history in a way they never had before. She had a prolific life, as a poet and writer, inspiring generations with lyrical modern African-American thought that pushed boundaries. From her upbringing in the Depression-era South to her work with Malcolm X in Ghana to her inaugural speech for President Bill Clinton, this film takes us on a journey through the life of a true American icon. Co-presented in honor of Women’s History Month with Vermont PBS and Varnum Memorial Library.

The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
